High Ceiling Restoration Hardware (RH) Chandelier in McLean, VA
Alright, so let me walk you through this chandelier install I just wrapped up in McLean, Virginia.
This one wasn’t your average in-and-out job — we were working with a massive two-story foyer, high vaulted ceiling, curved staircase, and a light fixture that looked like it came straight out of 1920s Paris. Let’s just say… it was a fun one.
Step One: Scaffold Jungle Gym
First things first — you can’t just throw a ladder at a ceiling like that.
We had to build out a multi-level scaffold right over the staircase.
Took some time to get it leveled and secure (big shoutout to my team for helping make it happen safely).
Once we were up there, I had the perfect view to center everything just right.
The Fixture: Pure Art Deco Vibes
This chandelier was inspired by Restoration Hardware, designed by Timothy Oulton, and honestly, it’s a work of art.
Think Art Deco meets industrial chic — hundreds of glass prisms hang like crystals, refracting light like crazy once it’s lit.
All of it’s anchored by a solid iron frame that gives it structure and a bold presence.
Once I got it wired up, secured, and powered on — man, that thing glowed.
The prisms catch every bit of light and bounce it all over the stairwell. It was like flipping a switch on elegance.
Why It Worked So Well
- The height of the ceiling made this chandelier feel like it was floating.
- The curved staircase naturally draws your eye right up to the fixture.
- The wall of windows behind it adds even more drama with all the light it lets in.
- At night, this thing absolutely steals the show.
Final Touch
After I packed up the scaffolding and took a step back to see the full picture, I knew we nailed it.
This chandelier isn’t just lighting — it’s the focal point of the entire entrance. Whether you’re coming down the stairs in the morning or greeting guests at night, that fixture sets the tone.
If you’ve got a tall ceiling and a bold idea for lighting, give me a call. I
