We had an “electrical event” at our house. Likely a power surge, but there is no way to truly know.

Symptoms: Suddenly (seemingly overnight) some breakers would trip under the slightest load. Electronic devices attached to some circuits were behaving erratically. Protection circuits inside power strips all over the house had been tripped. Some breakers were physically damaged internally, and were extremely easy to open.

We brought three companies in for quotes. The first company (NOT Pro Electric) had a sensational assertion that all of our supply equipment had to be replaced, including all breakers, breaker box, and the outside supply box. They gave a staggering five figure estimate. They suggested ignoring the repair could result in fire.

Pro Electric confirmed that most breakers were indeed damaged. They suggested replacing the power panel and breakers. Their calm, reasonable, practical approach had already won me over, then they found a ground wire issue that the other companies had missed - an issue that was obvious in hindsight. Based on the condition of the wire, it has been a problem for a very long time. They repaired this on the spot.

Their quote was reasonable. We filed an insurance claim and hired them.

The work they performed was high quality and their presence on site was warm and professional. They upgraded our home to modern code. They handled the permitting and the inspection was passed today without issue. Power in our home is stable and clean, and we are protected by a whole house surge protector.

We recently hired Pro Electric LLC to install a new breaker panel and whole house switches and outlets replacement. They are very professional and efficient. Peter was prompt in responding to our call and showed up on time. When he arrived, he noticed additional issues on our circuit breaker, such as double taps, that were unsafe and not compliant with code. He explained the issues well to me.
