How long does it take to charge an EV at home?

It depends on your charger level and battery size. A Level 1 standard outlet can take 20 to 40 plus hours for a full charge, while a Level 2 home charger usually does it in about 4 to 8 hours overnight. Most daily drivers choose Level 2 so they wake up to a full battery.

Will my electrical panel handle an EV charger?

Many panels can, but some older or heavily loaded panels need an upgrade first. We confirm your capacity during the site survey, and you can get an early read with the panel load simulator on this page before we ever visit.

Can I install an EV charger myself?

An EV charger is high load work wired into your panel, breaker, and grounding, so it must be installed safely and to code. We strongly recommend a licensed electrician. A wrong install can create fire risk, put your charger or vehicle warranty at risk, and fail inspection.

Do you pull the permit for the installation?

Is home charging really cheaper than public charging?

Usually, and often by a wide margin. Public Level 2 and fast charging is generally priced well above a residential electricity rate, and charging overnight can take advantage of off peak pricing where your utility offers it. Your own rate is on your bill, and that is the only figure that gives you a real comparison rather than somebody else's average.

Are there rebates or tax credits available?
