Virginia Electrical and HVAC Contractor License 2705181607
When your air conditioning quits in a heatwave, every hour counts. Same day emergency response across Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, and Prince William Counties, from a team licensed for the HVAC and the electrical behind it.
If anybody in the house is confused, agitated, slurring their words, unsteady on their feet, or hard to wake, that is not somebody who is uncomfortable. That is suspected heat stroke, it is a medical emergency, and the number to ring is 911, not 703.225.8222. Ring them first and us afterwards.
Do not assume somebody is fine because they are still sweating. And if you suspect heat stroke, do not give them anything to drink. Cool them as fast as you can with cold wet towels or ice packs at the neck, armpits and groin, stay with them, and wait for the ambulance.
A house with no cooling in a heat advisory is a health question before it is a repair question, particularly with an infant, an older adult, or anybody on medication that affects how they handle heat. The line the health authorities draw is about the mind rather than the thermometer. Feeling dreadful in the heat is one thing. Not thinking or behaving normally is another.
Heat exhaustion
Heat stroke, call 911
For heat exhaustion, move them somewhere cooler, take off what clothing you can, cool them with damp cloths or a cool shower, fan wet skin, and give cool water. Call 911 if it worsens, if it lasts more than an hour, or if there is chest pain or shortness of breath. When you are not sure which one you are looking at, treat it as the serious one.
We are an HVAC and electrical contractor rather than a medical one, so this section follows published guidance rather than our own opinion: the CDC on heat related illnesses, which notes that in heat stroke the body temperature can reach 106 degrees Fahrenheit or higher within ten to fifteen minutes and that it can cause permanent disability or death without emergency treatment, and the Minnesota Department of Health's signs and symptoms guide, which is the clearest one page summary we have found. For anything about a specific person, ring 911 or their doctor.
A quick gut check on whether to call right now or whether it can hold until morning.

The most common heatwave failure by a distance, and very often a same visit repair.
Sometimes the compressor, often the thing feeding it. Worth diagnosing before anyone quotes you a new system.
A system low on refrigerant has a leak. Topping it up without finding the leak is paying twice.
Turn it off before we arrive. There is a section above on why running it frozen makes it worse.
This is where being licensed for both trades matters, because it is often not the air conditioner at all.
A blocked condensate drain can trip a safety switch and stop a perfectly healthy system dead.
Under Virginia contractor license 2705181607 for both. When the fault turns out to be the circuit rather than the equipment, nobody has to come back tomorrow.
The person who arrives is qualified to diagnose it, not just to look at it and book somebody else.
In August, with a hot house, is the easiest moment to sell somebody a new system. We will tell you when a repair is the right answer.
Drop cloths, shoes covered, and the site left as we found it, even at eleven at night.
Our emergency line is answered by a person, every day of the week, across all four counties. Financing is available on request, and the veteran discount program applies.

Yes. Our emergency line is staffed seven days a week, and we schedule same day across Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, and Prince William whenever a home has lost cooling in the heat. Call 703.225.8222 and a real person will help.
No cooling at all during a heat advisory, especially with an infant, an elderly person, or anyone medically vulnerable at home. A burning or electrical smell, a breaker that trips every time the AC starts, water flooding the indoor unit, or a unit that is iced over all qualify. When in doubt, call and we will help you decide.
A breaker that trips on every cooling cycle is often an electrical fault, not only an HVAC one. Because we are licensed Master Electricians as well as HVAC technicians, we can trace the real cause, from a failing capacitor drawing too much current to a worn breaker or an undersized circuit, and fix both sides in one visit.
It can. A coil that has iced over should be switched off and allowed to thaw, because forcing a frozen system to keep running can damage the compressor, which is the most expensive part to replace. Turn the system off at the thermostat and call us.
We are transparent about pricing and you will know the cost before any work begins, with no surprises. We would rather earn your trust on the worst day of your summer than nickel and dime you during it.
It depends on the age, the failed part, and the overall condition. We will give you an honest recommendation rather than a default upsell, and if replacement is the smarter long term call, we will explain exactly why.
Most heatwave breakdowns trace back to a small problem that was developing for months. A seasonal tune-up and regular maintenance catch those issues early, and a service agreement adds priority scheduling so you are never at the back of the line in July.
