My Tesla Maintenance Journey: Keeping It Smooth and Simple
My car-care philosophy is really changed with a Tesla.

I’ve found a simplified, hassle-free method that gives me every drive to have without the usual maintenance anxieties.
Simplicity at Its Best: Fewer Moving Parts
Something I noticed the first time I drove my Tesla was how few moving parts it has in common with regular gas powered cars.
There are no belts, hoses, spark plugs, oil filters and that’s it for keeping my Tesla up and running.
No more oil changes or maintenance services, only uninterrupted driving pleasure.
Routine Check-Ups: What I Keep an Eye On
My Tesla doesn’t need much maintenance but here are a few things that I keep it ticking over:
- Tire Rotation and Alignment: With my Tesla’s instant torque and even weight distribution, I don’t want my tires to have too much wear on them. I do as recommended by the owner’s manual and rotate my tires every 6,250 miles or so. Not only does alignment improve performance, but also tire life.
- Cabin Air Filters: To keep the air in my Tesla fresh, I change cabin air filters every 2 years. Replace the HEPA filter once every 3 years, especially if your Tesla comes with Bioweapon Defense Mode.
- Brake Fluid/Caliper Inspection: While regenerative braking actually saves brake wear by a wide margin, I still test brake fluid every 2 years for contamination. In cooler places, I clean and lubricate the brake calipers every year so they don’t slip and break.
- Tread Adjustments: I am in an area where the winters are brutal so I pay close attention to tire pressure and tread depth. I switched to winter tires during the colder months and it has good grip, my Tesla handles better in the snow and ice.

The best part about owning a Tesla is how easy it is to integrate technology into maintenance.
Auto updates that constantly update my vehicle’s software automatically tweak my car’s systems – and I can go without physical service appointments sometimes.
Furthermore, via remote diagnostics, Tesla Service Centers detect potential issues without me ever leaving home.
This tech-driven model saves me time and it also makes owning super easy.

If you’re looking for more assurance, Tesla has longer warranties and maintenance packages.
I went with an extended warranty because they have fixed prices and keeps my car valued for the long haul.
A niggling cost for the sanity it offers.
Maximizing Convenience: Installing a Tesla Home Charger
I wanted to be the best Tesla owner I could be so I purchased a Tesla EV charger for home use.
This choice has been revolutionary.
Since I have a home EV charger, I always go to work “up to the mark” and don’t have to go to the gas station or wait for public chargers.
